This app is for passionate mountain hikers. The free version includes all features available for you to check out its functionality, but there is a usage limit:
If you choose to record your hiking trackes, the free version lets you have 5 recorded tracks. When this limit has been reached, you can no longer start recording a new track. Delete recorded tracks you no longer want to keep if necessary.
The premium app (in-app purchase) lifts this limit and lets you have as many tracks as you like. But do keep in mind the tracks take up disk space.

Features are:

Show mountains near your current location with name and altitude. Currenty this app only knows about mountains in the european Alps, prediminantly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Further mountains may be added in the future.

Automatically suggest the nearest mountain as track name to save your fingers. Though you can edit the track name as it fits you best, any time.

Prompt to stop a track which is being recorded after a preset time. This avoids exhausting the battery unintentionally.

For recorded tracks, following features are available:

Edit the track name

Display up to 3 tracks on the map. This is useful when you want to see the positions of various tracks in the same region on one glance. For example you want to see the tracks of three contiguous days when you are on a transalpine hiking trip.

Display details of all recorded way points, including coordinates.

Display performance summary like ascent accumulated, distance covered.

Display performance charts like ascent over time, speed over time. Charting allows the split of the track into several charts so you can zoom in on the most impressive part of the track.

Clone part of a track, so that statistics of your athletic performance are not distorted in case you have forgotten to stop the track recording at the intended destination. You can also use this feature to show your most impressive performance to your friend. "I did 800 meters of altitude in one hour!"

Please: if you notice that the information on mountains are not correct, for example, name misspelled, coordinates are off et cetera, please send an email to the address listed in the support URL page. If you do not find your favorite mountains, also let us know. Though this app will only list mountains over 1000 meter above sea level.
